DDS Acidophilus

The DDS acidophilus strain does everything you expect an acidophilus probiotic to do. It is a highly stable strain of Lactobacillus acidophilus.

In common with most or maybe all strains of L acidophilus the DDS strain produces enzymes to digest protein, fat, and lactase; produces B vitamins, folic acid and B-12; and produces hydrogen peroxide to fight bacteria and yeast overgrowth. It creates natural antibiotics and supports the gastrointestinal tract and immune system.

So how does this DDS strain differ? It has been in a number of reputable scientific trials and studies, in contrast to many strains in supplements which have not. It is listed as having had "very promising clinical and research studies" by a respected microbiologist (Professor Huffnagle)in the areas of gastrointestinal health and general health. The strain DDS-1J has had good results against Helicopacter pylori¹.

Health wise, it will do everything for you that you expect L. acidophilus to do and it might do a little bit more.

This particular brand did not fare so well in one consumer test I have seen where it did not have as many cfu as stated. Against that, it was the only brand containing the DDS acidophilus strain that was tested and as UAS Labs are only the distributor other brands of DDS might be the same. There is a good review for it at Amazon. Someone found this brand helpful for their digestion and keeping "regular".

The only brand I found that said how much of the DDS acidophilus strain you would get in their capsule. In my book - that counts for a lot!
