If you're wondering about which yogurt maker is best, let me tell you about the EasiYo method of making yogurt. This is a method that I know inside out - after all, I've made yogurt using an EasiYo yogurt maker for 20 years.
It's my personal favorite for a number of reasons.
It is just so jolly EASY! I can never understand why people want to muck around with heating milk when EasiYo does all of that for you. It's non electric and yet yogurt making couldn't be easier. In New Zealand, (where I use to live) everyone uses this brand.
I put the stop watch on myself the other day!
At 0:00 I entered the kitchen, filled hot water jug and set to boil. Then I got the EasiYo yogurt maker out of cupboard and prepared the yogurt. (Used the EasiYo Greek Style Unsweetened yogurt starter which is my favorite.)
1 and a half minutes had elapsed. I fill in time gazing out kitchen window at the birds while I wait for the hot water to boil.
At 2 and a half minutes the jug boils and I add the required amount to the yogurt maker, put the prepared container inside, screw the lid on and ...
AND THAT'S IT!!!
Total time was 2 minutes and 50 seconds. (And 1 minute of that was waiting for the jug to boil.) All I then had to do is wait 8 hours for the yogurt to "make".
It really is that simple.
You can add a little sugar at the time of making if you want. I don't. I flavor my homemade yogurt with jam after it is made and I find that the perfect sweetness for me. That means I can use my yogurt for savoury dishes if I want. The system is totally flexible.
And if you don't make your own jam then try the EasiYo Real Fruit Pulps for flavoring. They come in tropical, strawberry, cherry plum and berry.
I know some of you are uneasy that the sachet may contain artificial ingredients. It contains two things - New Zealand milk powder and freeze dried starter cultures.
Now if you've read many of the instructions from other yogurt makers you'll know that one of the first things most of them have you do is "add milk powder" to thicken the yogurt.
The EasiYo sachet contains the exact amount of milk powder to make up 1 kilogram of yogurt. You can buy extra jars and lunchtakers to suit your families needs.
And if you need any more reasons to help decide which yogurt maker is best - EasiYo is a probiotic yogurt. The strains of bacteria used are Lactobacillus acidophilus Howaru Dophilus, Bifidus lactis Bi-07, Lactobacillus paracasei LPC-37, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp bulgaricus, and Streptococcus salivarius subsp thermophilus.
Many of the yogurt starters that you buy are simply lactic acid bacteria. Now I'm not rubbishing them - lactic acid producing bacteria are good bacteria that we should be eating lots more of.
BUT - they're not necessarily probiotic. EasiYo starter is probiotic.
So take a wander through Everything EasiYo and drool over those flavors.
And by the way - I KNOW which yogurt maker is best! I'm still using the original yogurt maker that I bought 20 years ago.
Streptococcus salivarius K12 is a probiotic bacteria that cures bad breath. Check out these products to stop bad breath in its tracks!
