Yeast Infection Tip number 2!

by Kristin
(Illinois)

When inserting yogurt for a yeast infection the most important tip : keep the tampon in the applicator. Then push out about a centimeter of the tampon and soak in the yogurt for anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes. Then take it out of the yogurt and tap off a little bit because otherwise you could have a huge mess on your hands! Then insert the tampon like usual. You will be able to tell that the centimeter tip is expanded as well as yogurt has gotten into the applicator itself.

I think it works.

Then I just wear a light day pad so any drip wouldn't be a mess.

At last - the woman who has mastered the yogurt saturated tampon! You know, ladies, it never occurred to me that it might be better NOT to remove the applicator to early in the process!

This is quite simply the best way of inserting a yogurt soaked tampon into the vagina that I have heard of.

Yogurt to cure Yeast Infection
by: Anonymous

Ladies,
Go to your local pharmacy where they supply free syringes, take the syringe home and fill it with the yogurt, insert. Very easy. Wear a pantyliner throughout the day. Thanks!!

It works
by: Kirstie

I tried this method and it really does work.

Too soon to know if the yogurt I'm trying (Activia) is going to cure my yeast infection but at least I've got the yogurt in there. LOL

How long tampon in?
by: Anonymous

How long do you recommend leaving the yogurt tamp in? And how many times a day should this be done?

Dawn answered: Most women do it twice a day and try to leave the yogurt soaked tampon in for a couple of hours if you can. I have heard of women leaving the tampon in overnight but I think I'd try the shorter times first. Make sure it has live bacteria in it - some ladies have found Activia good for this.

Break-off
by: Anonymous

Can the tip (cm exposed) come off partially when doing this and if so is it still okay to use?

Dawn answered: I'm not completely sure I'm understanding your problem but the tip of the tampon should not break off just because it has been soaked in yogurt. You're not leaving it in there for too long.

Let me know if that wasn't what you're asking.

question...
by: Anonymous

Want to try this yogurt thing....but not sure how many days i should do this for. Also, is anyone worried about the yogurt spoiling while inside you?? lol

Dawn answered: Do it twice daily for 7 days. Many women notice a difference after a couple of days.

The yogurt is going to leak out so there is no chance of it going off while it is still up there. You'll have to wear a panty liner for the week but it is worth it.

Liquid yogurt
by: Rebecca

I haven't tried this yet, but there are drinkable yogurts out there and would think that this would be more quickly absorbed by a tampon and less messy than regular yogurt. I've seen something at Whole Foods that is a drinkable goat's milk yogurt. I can't remember the name, but it has the word "probiotic" in big letters across the label and has all the live cultures found in regular yogurt.

When inserting the tampon
by: Anonymous

How long do you need to wait b4 trying this for the first time and how long do you leave the tampon in after insertion?

Dawn Answered: Start this as soon as you believe you have a yeast infection. Do it twice a day and leave the tampon in for about 2 hours.

Good luck.

Whats next?
by: Anonymous

So you don't rinse the yogurt out after taking the tampon out after 2 hrs? You just let it fall with gravity on its own with time?

Dawn answered: No need to rinse it out. The vagina is a self cleansing organ that will clear it by itself.

Try This
by: Anonymous

Fold a paper towel in half and put yogurt on a paper towel to absorb some/and or most of the moisture of the yogurt. It will get like the consistency of the actual medication. Don't let it set too long it will get too thick. I then put in an empty plastic tampon applicator.

Dawn replied: What a great tip. Thank you.

Fishy smell
by: Anonymous

can i use yogurt to drive away the slightly fishy smell in my vagina?

Dawn answered: A fishy smell indicates it is more likely to be Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) than a yeast infection. Check out http://www.probiotics-lovethatbug.com/home-treatment-of-bacterial-vaginosis.html
